Missouri’s riverboat casinos reported an adjusted gross revenue (AGR) of $177.9 million in March 2025, according to the Missouri Gaming Commission. This figure marks an almost 1.5% increase compared to the $175.3 million generated in March 2024. It also represents a substantial month-on-month gain from February’s $149.3 million.
Ameristar St. Charles continued to lead the state’s casino market, contributing $26.5 million in AGR. This result was largely flat compared to March 2024, when the property reported $26.4 million. River City Casino showed notable progress, increasing its AGR by 8% year-over-year from $22.8 million to $24.7 million.
Hollywood Casino rounded out the top three, posting $22.5 million in AGR for March, reflecting a 4% year-over-year increase. These three properties were the only casinos in Missouri to generate more than $20 million for the month.
Among all Missouri riverboat casinos, Century Casino Caruthersville posted the most significant year-on-year improvement. Its AGR rose by 17%, reaching $5.5 million for the month.
However, not all casinos shared in the revenue growth. Bally’s Kansas City and Harrah’s Kansas City experienced slight declines, with AGR dropping by 2% and 1% year-over-year, respectively. Century Casino Cape Girardeau reported an 8% drop, while Argosy Casino saw its revenue fall by approximately $1 million, a 6% decline compared to March 2024.
The latest March figures contrast with the revenue downturn recorded in February 2025. During that month, Missouri’s 13 licensed riverboat casinos reported a 5% year-over-year decline in AGR, falling from $157 million in February 2024 to $149.3 million.
A significant contributor to February’s downturn was the decrease in slot machine revenue. Slot wins totaled $127 million for the month, down 6% from $135.6 million the previous year. However, table games managed a slight uptick, with revenues increasing 4% year-over-year to $22.2 million, up from $21.3 million.
Ameristar St. Charles once again led the state in February, generating $23.3 million. River City Casino followed with $21.5 million, while Hollywood Casino posted $19 million, and Ameristar Kansas City came in with $15 million.
While Ameristar St. Charles maintained its market-leading position, its February revenue slipped 3% compared to the $23.9 million reported in February 2024. River City Casino performed better, posting a 6% increase from the previous year’s $20.3 million.
Hollywood Casino and Ameristar Kansas City both reported February declines among Missouri’s top earners. Hollywood Casino’s AGR dropped 8% year-over-year, sliding from $20.6 million to $19 million. Ameristar Kansas City experienced an 11% decline, with revenues falling from $16.8 million to $15 million.
Missouri’s riverboat casinos may soon face competition beyond the rivers. In April, the Missouri House approved a proposal to legalize slot machines in bars and gas stations. If enacted, this expansion could alter the state’s gambling landscape significantly, introducing new venues for electronic gaming.
