The online gaming sector (iGaming) was the standout performer, soaring 31.3% year-over-year to $227.7 million. Online slot games, which represent the largest share of the segment, generated $169.5 million — an impressive 34.5% increase compared to last April. Meanwhile, online table games also saw healthy growth, climbing 24.2% to $55.9 million in revenue. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the pack with $83.2 million in online gaming revenue, growing 33.5%, driven by both slots and table games.
While online gaming boomed, traditional retail Parx Casino continued to dominate retail slots with $31.4 million in revenue, though it saw a small decline of 0.7% compared to the previous year. This highlights the shifting preferences among players toward digital platforms.
Retail table games revenue increased by 2.7% to $80.6 million, showing continued interest in classic casino games. Wind Creek Bethlehem led this category with $24.0 million, up 9.6%, while Hollywood Casino York achieved the largest relative growth, surging 37.7% to $1.5 million. However, Hollywood Casino at Penn National experienced a notable 39.3% decline in table games revenue, underscoring some variability among operators.
In the sports wagering segment, revenue remained relatively stable at $42.5 million — a modest 0.3% increase — while the total sports betting handle grew significantly by 10.1%, reaching $711.6 million. Presque Isle Downs stood out with a remarkable increase in sports betting revenue, soaring over 2700% to $1.9 million, fueled by an expanding customer base and promotional efforts.
The state collected $234.5 million in gaming taxes in April 2025, providing a substantial boost to Pennsylvania’s budget. Fantasy contest operators also saw gains, with revenue rising 2.3% to $1.26 million. DraftKings remained the leader in this segment, ing for $946,000 of revenue. On the other hand, revenue from video gaming terminals (VGTs) declined 3.6% to $3.5 million, despite operators running the maximum allowed number of machines at all 74 licensed truck stop locations.
Valley Forge Casino Resort reported the highest overall revenue, earning $99.1 million in April — a strong 16.1% increase from the previous year. Rivers Casino Philadelphia and Harrah’s Philadelphia also posted solid gains, with revenues rising 14.5% and 11.6%, respectively. Conversely, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and Mount Airy Casino Resort saw slight declines in their revenue compared to April 2024, reflecting competitive pressures and local market dynamics.
