Donations to GambleAware Exceed Charity’s Minimum Target of £10m

As far as published by GambleAware, an independent charity that champions a public health approach to preventing gambling harms, the total for voluntary donations is £10.05 million. This period of 12 months encomes funds received up to 31st March 2020.

For the first time in 10 years, the donations have exceeded the charity’s minimum target of £10 million. Moreover, a significant part came from regulatory settlements, as well as broadcasters.

Marc Etches, CEO of GambleAware, shared his thoughts on the significant achievement:

“For the tenth year in a row, we have seen an increase in donations, which means for the first time, we have been able to meet our minimum target of £10 million. Commissioning a coherent, coordinated, and efficient system of prevention and treatment requires the strategic distribution of sufficient funding, guided by appropriate expertise underpinned by effective partnership working.”

Fine Contribution from Settlements and Broadcasters

In addition to the core funding, the charity has also received £1.5 million in regulatory settlements. This represents a resolution between the Gambling Commission and an operator in cases where concerns have been raised about the operator.

… the organization has published a list of companies that ed the Safer Gambling Campaign, Bet Regret, for its first year in 2019. The amount donated came to £3.8 million alongside media donations from broadcasters.

As a small reminder, Bet Regret is the campaign founded with the goal to players in increasing awareness of betting problems, including impulsive betting as well.

Focus on Prevention and Treatment

With the funding provided by the industry, GambleAware will be able to commission a coherent, coordinated, and efficient system of prevention and treatment to keep people across England, Scotland, and Wales safe from gambling harms.

Thanks to successful partnerships…

… with expert organizations and agencies, including the NHS, these donations fund a range of services, including the National Gambling Treatment Service, which includes the National Gambling Helpline.

Also, it ed forces with the Parent Zone to educate families and draw their attention to numerous gaming-related issues.

What’s GA’s Main Mission?

The main goal of this widely known organization is keeping people safe from gambling harm. With two million adults experiencing some level of gambling harm, the institution feels the need to raise awareness that gambling is a serious public health issue in Great Britain.

At the time being…

… GA is the primary commissioner using best-practice to ensure that evidence-informed services are developed according to need within a robust and able system. All the received funding is allocated efficiently and independently as one would expect of other health and social care commissioning and grant-making bodies.
