…Having gone live with its sportsbook at the beginning of this month, the first financial results are in and they are most positive.
Much like all other states who have published good news as soon as their sports betting operations went live, West Virginia’s first week of legal sports betting raked in a total of $320,600 in revenue.
The figure was revealed by the West Virginia Lottery Commission, a regulatory body for all things gambling within the state’s borders. The above amount was deposited by the punters of Hollywood Casino in Charles Town…
…The venue uses a sportsbook provided by London-based leading company, William Hill, who is making quite a sweep across the whole US, and whose partnership deals are racing and overtaking one another.
Online sports betting is still unregulated and any such actions would be considered illegal. Five land-based casinos are offering sports betting now with The Greenbrier Casino coming soon with sportsbook of their own, catered for by FanDuel.
first bets were placed in June – is also doing good.
In the month leading up to August 26th, the total revenue was around $7.7 million, which is an insignificant decrease from the previous month. Overall, $22.9 million has been placed as a deposit since the beginning of sports betting operations.
Total revenue up so far is around $2 million, while Delaware Park handled a lion’s share of the aforementioned $22.9 million – with $16 million wagered on their premises. Similar to West Virginia, Delaware also allows sports wagering only at land-based venues.
