American Gaming Association Praises CSR Efforts

The United States gaming industry association AGA, founded back in 1994 with the goal of promoting, educating and lobbying on behalf of the gaming entertainment industry through education and advocacy…

…praised the US casino gaming industry’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.

The American Gaming Association publicly praised their efforts because they found out that the sector was “guilty” of donating $367 million to charity back in 2017.

The Official Research

AGA conducted this research in cooperation with the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Centre. As the association claimed, it was the first time that they produced such a report when it comes to the industry’s impact…

…as well as its commitment to communities, employees, and customers.

It is also stated in the report that although CSR programming aligns with a big portion of the private sector, it also leads in some areas, like monitoring its impact on communities in which it operates.

On the other hand, it also takes the lead in the evaluation of the effectiveness of its strategies and communicating the strategies to internal and external stakeholders.

15 Participated

Around 15 of AGA’s have taken place in this survey and were interviewed as a part of the research. These companies represent 168 casinos, 235,000 US employees and around $33 billion in revenue.

AGA also reported that they are about 10 times more likely to map their CSR efforts to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals than Fortune 1000 companies.

Also, AGA, which at the end of last year cautioned against federal engagement in sports betting, determined that their are more likely than other private sector companies to leverage a broad range of tactics to communicate their CSR efforts.

Environmentally Friendly

Except from making donations to the charity, that by the way exceeded $360 million in 2017, the association also mentioned that around 93% of their that participated in the research really pay attention to the energy efficiency practices in their business.

Also, around 93% of have as well some type of a recycling program, while together diverted 100.000 tons of waste from landfill, which represent around 38% of total waste.

CEO Comments on the Report

AGA representatives said that all of their that have been included in the report have responsible gaming policy that helps protect their customers.

“Above all else, the industry’s highest priority is to promote responsibility in all that we do, from being constructive partners in the communities where we operate, providing exceptional career opportunities to industry employees and ensuring all patrons have the tools they need to engage in our offerings in a responsible manner,” AGA president and CEO, Bill Miller, said.

“The report shows that the gaming industry is making good on our promise to be responsible community partners, contributing economically and socially to communities across the country.”

“While CSR reports continue to become standard practice among American businesses, it is rare to see the collective impact of an entire sector,” Carolyn Cawley, president of the US Chamber Foundation, also commended the efforts of the gaming sector.
