BetBlocker, the responsible gambling app was reinforced with an additional tool that aims to increase player responsibility. Designed to make it easier for people to block themselves from online gambling, the new feature helps punters have better control over their activities.
The official launch of the new helpful option comes on the first day of Safer Gambling Week. This initiative, which will run in the UK and Ireland from November 19 to 25, aims to raise awareness of safety as one of the hottest topics continuously discussed.
Previously, BetBlocker’s software, which was recently funded by Greentube, relied exclusively on blocking for a fixed length of time. Consumers were able to select specific periods to prevent themselves from involving in online gambling activities.
What the enhanced version brings is…
…the new calendaring feature enables consumers to manage their time spent playing games better. To be more precise, they have the option to select certain days as to when they can access portals that offer Internet-based casino games.
BetBlocker trustee Duncan Garvie commented:
“Responsible gambling is about more than the binary option of do or don’t; it’s about helping ensure that people who enjoy gambling can access this activity in a safe and controlled manner.”
By applying blocks to a calendar…
…customers can label specific days to stop them from gambling online. For example, players can restrict themselves from gambling at the weekend, but allow them to do so in the week, or to block out the first few days following their regular payday. The function simultaneously blocks any access to iGaming platforms.
As Garvie stressed out, the newly added functionality significantly extends the service, allowing punters to “tailor restrictions that suit their specific needs.”
Earlier this year, The Great Britain Gambling Commission (UKGC) officially recognized BetBlocker as a charity with a focus on helping prevent problem gambling.
Starting March 2020…
… Betblocker ed other charities featured on the official UKGC website- BeGambleAware, GamCare, Gam-Anon, Gamblers Anonymous, Gamblock, and Gordon Moody Association.
Moreover, in November last year, the app was also approved as a charity in the UK. It is now listed as one of six charities recognized by the regulator as being a prevention specialist.
The app also features …
…that prevents the underage population from accessing gambling services and other potentially hazardous websites. This service s every major operating system including Windows, Linux, XOS, Android, iOS, and Fire OS.
As already mentioned, the new option on BetBlocker was presented on the opening day of UK Safer Gambling Week.
This year’s event, just like the previous ones, aims to raise awareness on safety and come up with ways to enhance it. Besides discussing responsible behavior in general, participants will also focus on potential solutions and preventions.
Gambling websites, as well as social networks, are invited to contribute to the occasion by promoting the event and pointing out all the issues and problems players usually deal with.

Excellent, this will undoubtedly contribute to a higher level of safety and responsibility. And those two are much needed, particularly in times like these.
