Capecod Gaming Acquired By Novomatic Group

Casino game developer and supplier Novomatic, becoming one of the brands under their Novomatic Group.

The acquisition was completed in late October and will see the Italian company aim ever higher in of their growth and reach to potential customers. The list is bigger by the day, with Betflag, Esa Gaming, Pixelo, iral, Betaland, Betpoint, Betitaly, Snai, IGT Lottomatica and Bakoo among just some of the names that Capecod Gaming has agreed partnership with during previous months.

In an interview for AGIMEG, Capecod Gaming CEO, Mauro Roncolato, explained that the decision to Novomatic was based on the company’s sole desire to increase their market presence and, as Novomatic “always pick[s] the best opportunities,” they chose to buy the company and are very much a guarantee of commercial success.

Roncolato believes that Capecod Games are highly competitive: “We work in an industry where producers must be able to offer as many options as possible. We are already receiving lots of inquiries about Book of Ra and other popular Novomatic titles which are a testament to the fruitful agreement reached between our companies.” He also noted that the supplier was the first B2B provider to bring retail products online in Italy.

When asked about the value of the Italian-based developer’s current market share (the interview was done in August of this year), Roncolato replied: “It is difficult to say as the data in our industry is often very inaccurate. We estimate to sit around 10% with a solid market presence in our country. We sell our casino products to over 20 providers, some of which offer a portfolio where our games for up to 40% of the total. We also work with big networks such as Microgame so the grand total of distributors is much higher. We released more than 50 new games in little over 3 years and we plan to keep doing so, our strategy is to focus on multi-channel gaming.”

He also noted that Novomatic offers sports betting and poker and that, although it does not present a priority at the moment for its recently acquired brand, it will be discussed and taken into consideration. The company will also be reviewing their business strategy and commercial offering according to the present-day situation in Italy when nearly 15000 betting shops could go up for sale.
