Casino du Lac in Switzerland Officially 7th Brand to Go Online

Switzerland’s Partouche Group has formally acquired license for its leading brand Casino du Lac in Meyrin to go online and thus become the country’s 7th and latest land-based venue to launch its operations in the iGaming sector.

Casino du Lac de Geneve is actually live under its Pasino.ch site since 16 November, as announced by Switzerland’s Federal Gaming Board (ESBK). As reported, players will have a host of slot and casino-style table games at their disposal.

On a related note, Pasino.ch has recently signed a content distribution deal with Red Tiger, NetEnt’s subsidiary whose most popular hits are Vault of Anubis, Rainbow Jackpots Power Lines and Midas Gold.

A Lengthy Licensing Process

Even though the Swiss market belongs to a range of regulated jurisdictions, the process of launching a casino online was quite lengthy, reports Partouche. To receive the approval and begin distributing games on the internet requires authorization of numerous entities, whereby the Switzerland’s Federal Gaming Board (ESBK) has the final word.

For the record, Casino Lugano and Casino du Lac announced on 29 April 2020 to have been granted entrance into the online gaming sector, broadening the country’s market alongside StarVegas, Interlaken, Grand Casino Baden, Casino Davos, Grand Casino Luzern and Zurichsee.

The recently launched online division of Switzerland’s Partouche Group will also base its live dealer vertical on partnership with Evolution, established earlier this year. As part of this complementary agreement, players will be offered a choice to play from their tablet, desktop or smartphone, while having direct access to live dealers for poker, baccarat and roulette as well.

The Switzerland National Council has also approved the extension of the license, while the ESBK said that Casino du Lac has officially “received all the necessary gaming permits” needed to operate online.

A Necessary Shift

Casino du Lac’s recent shift to the online gaming sector is also a part of long-term strategy due to the overall situation in the industry throughout 2020, since many local retail operators decided to shut down their business.

Partouche’s Geneva establishment is currently open under limited hours, while most of their slot machines (if not all) are unavailable to visitors. It turns out that the management’s decision to go fully online proved quite productive, as more and more customers opt for this approach. However, Casino du Lac is not the only land-based property to profit from going online; many reputable brands have done the same, forming a stronger and sustainable iGaming market in the country, whose future looks bright in 2021 and beyond.

Among the recent content providers in the country is also Greentube, Novomatic’s interactive division that signed a partnership with Casino777, online brand of Casino Davos. Pariplay has also entered into an agreement with Swiss Casino in October, enhancing its presence in the market and delivering highly sought after titles Dragons of the North, Mystery Fox and Wolf Riches.

Earlier that month, Comlot and ESBK reported a decline in betting percentage, stating that only 16.4% of the survey respondents engaged in some sort of gambling activities.
