Colorado Casino Revenue Reaches $84.2 Million in February, Down 1.9% Year-Over-Year

Total adjusted gross proceeds (AGP) for Colorado’s land-based casinos amounted to $84.2 million in February, reflecting a 1.9% decrease compared to the $85.8 million reported during the same month in 2024.

According to data from the Colorado Department of Revenue, slot machines ed for $72 million of the total AGP, slightly lower than the $72.2 million recorded in February 2024. Table games generated $12.1 million, marking a more significant decline from the $13.6 million reported in the previous year.

Black Hawk Leads, Cripple Creek Sees Growth

Among Colorado’s three casino regions, Black Hawk remained the leading market, reporting $66.2 million in AGP for February.

However, this figure represented a 3.3% decrease from the $66.4 million recorded in the same period last year. Central City’s casinos generated $5.5 million in revenue, down 7.1% from $5.9 million year-over-year.

Cripple Creek was the only region to see an increase in AGP, posting $14.5 million in February, a 7.3% rise from $14 million in the previous year.

Month-over-Month Growth from January

Despite the year-over-year decline, the total AGP in February was up 4.1% from January’s $80.8 million.

According to the report which encomes January 2025, Colorado’s casino industry recorded a 5.1% drop in revenue compared to January 2024, when AGP reached $85.1 million. Gaming tax collections also declined, reaching $14.2 million, down 3.2% from the prior year.

Slot machines remained the dominant revenue source in January, generating $66.4 million, reflecting a 6% year-over-year decline. Table games contributed $14.3 million, slightly lower by 0.7% from December 2024’s figures.

Regional Performance in January

Black Hawk led the state in January with $62.4 million in AGP, a drop from $65.8 million in January 2024. Slot machines in the region generated $49 million, down from $52.5 million, while table games saw a slight increase to $13.4 million from $13.3 million year-over-year.

Cripple Creek’s casino revenue declined to $12.7 million in January from $13.6 million in the same period last year. Slot machines in the region contributed $11.9 million, falling from $12.6 million, while table games earned $773,137, down from $975,648.

Central City was the only region to see year-over-year growth in January. Casinos in the area generated $5.64 million, slightly above the $5.62 million recorded in January 2024. Slot revenue increased to $5.5 million from $5.4 million, while table games declined slightly to $146,527 from $152,432.

Decline from December 2024’s Highs

January’s revenue figures also fell short of December 2024’s performance, when Colorado casinos recorded $94.9 million in AGP. Gaming tax collections similarly dropped from $15.7 million in December to $14.2 million in January.
