DC Lottery Extends Intralot's Sports Betting Technology Supply Contract For Another Five Years

Lottery sports betting technology provider, Intralot, has extended its business partnership with DC Lottery, US capital’s city lottery operator and officially signed an agreement according to which they will be sole suppliers of their services to them.

DC Lottery will continue its relationship with Intralot who will supply their LOTO gaming and ticket management system. The extension was signed for another 5 years after almost a decade of cooperation.

Transferring More Than $500M to District

The provider will be ing online and traditional lottery sales…

…by supplying its Photon terminals, WinStations new peripheral devices and other services. However, what is certainly the most attractive part of the signed agreement is that Intralot will soon put its Orion mobile and retail sports betting platform into service early next year.

DC Lottery executive director, Beth Bresnahan, said of the deal:

“Intralot has been a valued partner of the DC Lottery for the last nine and a half years, helping to transfer more than $500 million since 2010 to the District to fund vital public programs and initiatives. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Intralot to introduce exciting new games and innovative gaming platforms to generate additional revenue for the District’s important causes”.

Rewarding and Motivating

Intralot US subsidiary’s interim CEO, Byron Boothe, added to this:

“We have been DC Lottery’s partner since 2010. Being chosen to continue offering leading technical and marketing solutions to the DC Lottery is rewarding and motivating, as it recognizes our commitment to delivering significant value to our partner.

A Controversial Deal

Late last year, Intralot was selected as a sole supplier to capital’s sports betting market which is operated solely by DC Lottery…

…and the controversy of it was that it was done without the bidding process. This was even attacked by some Council, such as David Grosso, as a “giveaway,” due to bying a procurement process for a deal that could see Intralot gain at least $215 million while the contract is valid.

Other Council, such as Jack Evean, are defending this decision by saying that with a lengthy procurement process, the city would lost money to neighboring states that the sports legalization.

A Series of Deals

Intralot has managed to secure several important British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

Washington DC’s sports betting regulations officially ed into law in early May. DC Lottery will be offering their sports wagering in city’s major sporting arenas.
