Multinational gaming company from London that produces slot machines and gaming software, International Game Tecnhology (IGT) will continue the distribution of instant win games and related services to DC Lottery until December 2019, a report reads.
Aside from supplying Washington lottery services with software products, IGT Global Solutions Corp. will also provide assistance in planning, marketing, research and analytics, with special focus on production and printing of tickets.
This cooperation dates back to 2014, when IGT agreed with DC Lottery to work as its print vendor and present its first Super Ticket initiative.
The extension of partnership with DC Lottery will actually help IGT to get back in the race for a stronger foothold in the sports betting market. As a reminder, the state recently granted Intralot to launch a sportsbook, since the council of Washington DC approved an emergency measure that byes the public procurement procedure.
On that , chief operating officer at IGT, Jay Gendron, commented:
“IGT is pleased to continue working with the DC Lottery, and we look forward to enhancing their instant ticket program with creative new content over the next year.”
According to the recent media reports, IGT might have been able to acquire the sports betting contract, had its offer been put to tender along with Scientific Games – an American gambling company that also provides lottery products and services to gambling organizations worldwide.
The sports betting legislation was introduced by councilmember Jack Evans in September 2018.
International Game Technology PLC has recently presented its latest software achievement, a 4D slot adaptation of a popular American TV game show, ‘Wheel of Fortune.’
Apart from the continuous introduction of new gaming technologies that no longer require 3D glasses, IGT also expands its reach in other regions, such as Tennessee and Mississippi.
In December 2018, the group reached a new agreement with Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation, allowing it to supply the operator with GameTouch terminals and other services until June 30, 2025.
To conclude, not every councilman voted for the sports betting bill. Among the biggest opponents were David Grosso, Brianne Nadeau, Elissa Silverman, Robert White and others. Mr. Grosso issued an official statement:
“This is not an industry we should be rushing to legalize here in the District of Columbia. This is not an emergency. It is a giveaway.”
It is interesting, on the other side, that DC sports betting was realized basically in a flash over the past few months.

Excellent news, I cannot believe it took them so long to legalize sportsbooks, it’s not nuclear science.
