Delaware Shows off 131.2% Surge in iGaming Revenue for February

iGaming Handle in Delaware Reaches New Heights in Delaware

Exactly one year after reporting growth in iGaming revenue for March 2020, the Delaware Lottery has come out with new figures for the current year – a 131.2% year-on-year increase for February. As stated, consumer spending has more than doubled during the month.

When compared, the revenue has made a skyrocketing jump of $751,291 during February, which is marginally higher than the last year’s $324,958 in the second month of the year. Likewise, the proceeds made a similar increase of $738,525 in January this year, showing a steady growth in Q1.

On a related note, video lottery games remained by far the primary source of income for operators in The Diamond State, recording a revenue in the range of $597,413.

A $6.5 Million Soar

While table games revenue totaled only $114,685 for the month, the poker rake and fees reached about $39,194 during the month of February. It is also estimated that player spending stood firm at $21.9 million, which is a colossal increase of 121.1% in comparison to February 2020. These numbers outmatch the $21.1 million spent in the opening month of 2021.

To summarize, Delawareans spent $14.9 million on video lottery games and around $7.0 million on table games, winning a total of $21.2 million in the process.

Further insights reveal that the Delaware Park reclaimed #1 destination in the market. It reported a staggering $301,830 in revenue and $9.7 million in bets. Second on the list is Dover Downs, which led the state’s market in January, but slipped to number two with $277,327 in revenue as well as $7.0 million. At long last, Harrington Raceway ranked third with $172,224 income and $5.2 million in player bets.

In comparison with the previous year to date, revenue in Delaware from the first two months of 2021 amounted to $1.5 million. The consumer spending on iGaming, however, rose to $43.0 million, a notable growth from last year’s $36.5 million.

Meanwhile, the Delaware Lottery entered into a partnership with 888, a world-renowned online gambling operator, and extended its ongoing contract for another two years.

The two entities started cooperating back in 2013, and under the new deal, Delaware will increase access to content and a range of poker and casino offerings.

The sports betting landscape has changed dramatically since 2019. In addition to Delaware, many states had ed legislation to allow sports betting as a result of the 2018 U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Rhode Island, Mississippi, and New Mexico are just some of the growing markets across the United States, which were specifically active during March Madness betting.

Since 2019, over 65 million Americans have gained access to betting in legal markets. As reported, there are 17 states currently having active or pre-filed legislation to legalize sports betting within their territories.

On 11 March, Dover Downs owner Bally’s Corporation, even announced a multiyear partnership with the National Basketball Association as an Authorized Sports Betting Operator to increase market share and advertising reach in the state.
