FanDuel And Penn National To Run Sportsbooks In West Virginia

The state of West Virginia has officially granted sportsbook licenses to FanDuel and Penn National, allowing both companies to operate within the territory. Legal wagering on sports is expected to commence at two of the state’s most prominent venues – Hollywood Casino Charles Town and The Greenbrier.

On the other hand, it has been announced that Meadowlands racetrack in New Jersey.

Up To Three Operators

The state issued a gambling permission to Penn National for $100,000 and it will collect 10 percent of income taxes. Although online sports betting is formally legal within the territory’s borders, each casino is allowed to serve up to three different operators.

Moreover, the systems test at Hollywood Casino in the last week of August will postpone the launch of sportsbooks, meaning that the full-scale wagering on sports cannot commence before September. West Virginia Lottery expects a significant rise in revenues for the 2019 fiscal year, stating that at least $5.5 will be generated from sports betting operations alone.

Expansion Of Products Across The Nation

FanDuel has recently signed an agreement with Paddy Power Betfair, merging its range of products to strengthen gaming experiences for sports fans across the country.

Additionally, the group will be the main supplier for Tioga Downs in New York. The merger has significantly expanded the number of brands under the umbrella, and now consists of Betfair Casino, TVG Network and DRAFT.TVG. The new partnership also boasts a database of players from 45 states, reaching as much as 8 million people.
