FanDuel Announces Partnership with Basketball Team New York Liberty

American professional basketball team New York Liberty has started a partnership with FanDuel, an NYC based bookmaker and daily fantasy sports provider. Founded in 1997, the team plays in the Eastern Conference in the Women’s National Basketball Association and represents one of the eight original franchises of the league.

This is the club’s first maquee deal since 2018, allowing America’s second largest DFS service in the country to place a logo on Liberty jerseys. FanDuel Group was the first gaming company to provide a one-day fantasy offering for the WNBA back in 2017.

On a Mission to Make Sports More Exciting

For the first time in franchise history, the basketball team from New York metropolitan area will have an opportunity to pick the No.1 overall WNBA draft. According to the league, there will be a virtual draft on Friday, April 17 with live coverage on ESPN beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

By g a new arrangement with NY Liberty, the bookmaker will deepen its previous ties with women’s professional sports league and help increase its fan database. Chief operating officer at the club, Keia Clarke commented the latest partnership by saying:

“We have a shared mission with FanDuel to make sports more exciting. Teaming up with a leading gaming operator in the US allows us to reach new and existing fans who want to experience the very best of New York basketball both digitally and at live events.”

FanDuel Group chief executive officer Matt King has also pointed out the company’s long tradition and dedication to the WNBA and stated:

“We have been partners with the WNBA for several years and are incredibly proud to partner with the New York Liberty. New York is an iconic sports town and the home of FanDuel headquarters, so teaming up with the Liberty is an honor and a natural fit. Together, we will continue to bring New York fans and WNBA fans alike new and innovative ways to engage with the Liberty and its players.”

Likewise, the group is in partnership with NHL since March 2020, since it entered into an agreement to stream live matches in partnership with IMG Arena. In previous year, the sportsbook has sealed other two major contracts with MLB and Pittsburgh Steelers, a professional American football team.

Drone Racing Heats up

Right at the beginning of April, The Drone Racing League signed an agreement with FanDuel for a fantasy partnership during 2020 DRL SIM Tryouts Finals. This global, professional drone racing circuit represents the world’s only player-to-pilot esports tournament and marks DRL’s first-ever collaboration with a fantasy sports provider. The New York City based bookmaker will gain access to the official DRL SIM data, including league marks and logos to create formal DFS contests for 2020.

“We remain as committed as ever to our fans and we’re currently working to develop new and entertaining games for them to engage with. Partnering up with The Drone Racing League allows us to collaborate with an innovative league as we give our fantasy customers more ways to play,” said Kip Levin, president at FanDuel.
