Floyd Mayweather makes $280k on Warriors Betting

Floyd Mayweather is one of the world’s biggest sports bettors. And the champion boxer is using his betting acumen to cash in on the Golden State Warriors during the 2016 NBA Finals.

Mayweather posted a betting slip on Instagram where he wagered $70,000 on the Warriors covering a -3 halftime spread in Game 1. Golden State led by 52-43 at the half, which gave Mayweather a $60,000 win on the bet.

Before this, the 39-year-old booked an even bigger profit on Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals. Mayweather bet $170,000 on the Warriors beating the Oklahoma City Thunder. With the moneyline at +130 for Golden State, he won another $221,000 profit as the Warriors pulled out a 96-88 victory.

These big wins are nothing new for Mayweather because he’s posted other huge sports betting payouts in the past. As FOX Sports reports, he posted more than $4.3 million in winning betting slips in 2012.

This is the same year Mayweather had one of the most-legendary betting wins of all time as he collected $1 million for the Oregon Ducks’ college football win over Arizona State. There was also news of an unconfirmed bet where Mayweather wagered $1.8 million on the LA Clippers beating the Memphis Grizzlies; the Clippers ended up winning 99-98.

Critics have pointed out that Mayweather doesn’t post many of his losing betting slips online. But with some of the massive wins that he’s had, it’s not hard to envision him still being a long-term winner.

As for Mayweather’s boxing career, there’s no doubt that he’s a winner here. Claiming a perfect 49-0 record, “Money” is one of the few fighters who’ve gone this far into a career without a loss.

On September 15, 2015, Mayweather fought his final bout against WBA interim champ Andre Berto, earning a unanimous decision and retaining his welterweight and super welterweight titles. But following the fight, Mayweather announced his retirement and vacated his belts.

There have been rumors that Money could return to the ring for another big-money fight since he’s still in good shape and remains undefeated.

But for the time being, it doesn’t look like Mayweather has any interest in returning to boxing. Instead, he’s having fun taking in the Warriors’ playoff run and making plenty of money along the way.
