Global Gaming’s Appeal Rejected: Its SafeEnt Subsidiary Remains Without Its Swedish license Revoked By Spelinspektionen

The latest attempt of operator, Global Gaming, to overturn a decision to strip its SafeEnt subsidiary of its Swedish license resulted in failure. The country’s Supreme istrative Court rejected an appeal for injunctive relief until the main appeal hearing.

SafeEnt’s Swedish licenses for commercial online gambling and betting was revoked by national regulator, Spelinspektionen in June for “serious deficiencies” in business practices.

One of those deficiencies…

… was related to responsible gambling and anti-money laundering measures.

Futile Appeal

Global filed an appeal against the regulator’s decision with the istrative Court in Linköping. The company argues that the punishment against its subsidiary is disproportionate and the decision lacks in gaming law.

Also, the brand is claiming that it has complied with all license requirements. This is why the firm has also filed an appeal in an effort to acquire permission for SafeEnt to resume operations until its main appeal was heard.

However…

… the Supreme istrative Court has rejected that appeal, suspending all of the provider’s operations in the country, without providing further explanation, as Global noted.

The company will now focus its efforts on the judicial review of the regulator’s original ruling. Until the hearing, its subsidiary remains without Swedish license.

Linköping istrative Court also previously turned down a request from the brand to suspend the ruling while the main appeal was debated.

Efforts of the company to then overturn this ruling were futile.

“Although we were aware that the chances of being granted injunctive relief were limited, we are, of course, disappointed to see our appeal rejected again. Our focus is now on the judicial review of the Spelinspektionen’s decision that is currently taking place. We maintain that the decision is fundamentally wrong and disproportionate, and will show it during the process that is currently underway in the istrative Court,” said Tobias Fagerlund, chief executive of Global Gaming.

Company Remains on Market Despite Big Hit by Swedish Authority

While the company was hit hard by a suspension of its SafeEnt subsidiary in Sweden, it doesn’t stay absent from the gaming community.

Via partnership with Finnplay Group, the brand returned to the market in big style.

Finnplay’s full range of high-end technology solutions and complete platforms for online gaming will be accessible to Global according to the partnership agreement.

The first fruit of this collaboration is a new NanoCasino…

… operating under a Swedish commercial online gaming license and held by Viral Interactive Limited.

Both companies believe that teaming up opens up beneficial opportunities for further and long-term cooperation.

Fagerlund commented on the deal:

“It’s a pleasure to launch NanoCasino with Finnplay as our partner. Both organizations are utterly professional, and we are certainly not wasting any time. I think the proof is in the fact that we have only just launched the cooperation last week but are already announcing the imminent launch in Sweden of a player experience that’s fully licensed, safe and secure.”

The launch of the new casino brand will soften the restriction that Spelinspektionen imposed on its SafeEnt subsidiary, but the brand is staying strong in its efforts to overturn its ruling.
