Leading multinational gaming company, IGT, has officially announced the retirement of chairman of global solutions, Donald R. Sweitzer. After spending 20 years in business development and government affairs, Don will leave his office on December 31st as an “accomplished ambassador to IGT’s current and prospective global customers and government officials, and instrumental in its development, growth, and industry leadership” report reads.
According to IGT CEO, Marco Sala, the company owes sustainable expansion and leading market positioning thanks to Don’s expertise and relationships with various state and commercial partners. Sala adds:
“I will always be grateful for his integrity, insight, and leadership. His achievements with IGT will continue to resonate far into the future.”
Before ing the iGaming company in 1998, Sweitzer built his career in federal and state politics. He even served as a political director of the Democratic National Committee under U.S. President Bill Clinton.
Moreover, Don was also a trusted advisor to senators in Massachusetts and Ohio. His first job in politics started when serving as deputy town supervisor and councilman in New York.
By identifying and crafting new business models that would later expand IGT’s product line as well as its services, he changed the role from senior vice president of global business development and public affairs to chairman of global solutions. Mr. Sweitzer comments:
“I am grateful to Marco Sala and the entire IGT family, our customers, and business partners for the extraordinary opportunities and meaningful relationships we have built together throughout the last 20 years.
I can honestly say I have enjoyed coming to work every single day during my time here, and I love the people in this company. It’s now a good time in the business to retire on a positive note, with a spectacular future ahead for IGT.”
Apart from the roles on boards of non-governmental organizations, Don has also gained the title of a member of the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame. At the end of November 2018, International Gaming Technology (IGT) confirmed that Lorenzo Pellicioli will take office as the new Chairperson of the Board.
Due to Phil Satre’s decision to Wynn Resorts in August, the company had no choice but to officially appoint Mr. Pellicioli on a full-time basis. Prior to his new role, he served as the vice-chair since 2015.
The supplier is also expanding partnerships with leading sportsbooks across the country, as the sports betting craze continues to add more territories to the list.
