IGT Deploys PlaySports Technology in Oregon

International Game Technology, a multinational gambling company that designs, manufactures and distributes interactive gaming machines, including software and network systems has announced the deployment of PlaySports in Oregon.

The company’s technology for sports wagering will power retail sportsbooks at the Mill Casino in North Bend, allowing all visitors to place a range of bets over the counter or at IGT kiosks.

Currently supplying retailers across 11 US states such as Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, West Virginia, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Nevada, the technology is becoming ever more present on the market in the country where gambling is legal.

Milestone in Expansion for IGT

According to Enrico Drago, senior vice president at IGT PlayDigital, the group’s latest agreement will propel its position in the entire US betting landscape. Drago comments:

“Enabling The Mill Casino in Oregon to offer world-class sports betting experiences is another important milestone in the expansion of IGT’s position in the U.S. sports betting market.

The solution’s market-readiness and proven capacity to seamlessly process high volumes of bets across devices and channels continues to differentiate IGT PlaySports in the market and has helped fuel its expansion into 11 U.S. states.”

At the same time, Terri Porcaro, chief executive at The Mill Casino replies the following:

“We are extremely pleased to be the only casino in Southern Oregon to provide our guests access to the excitement of sports betting through IGT’s PlaySports technology. This new option perfectly complements our slots and table games offering and gives our customers even more reasons to visit our waterfront destination.”

SBTech and Scoreboard Already Live

Back in October, the state of Oregon has made sports betting available to its residents by inaugurating a partnership between Oregon Lottery and SBTech. This arrangement has tly launched the Scoreboard sportsbook, enabling bettors to place sports wagers via app and win up to $250,000 which is the highest possible amount.

Oregon authorities have even forecasted a $141 million increase in revenue over the first three years after the sportsbook launch.

IGT has recently published the financial results for Q3, reporting a significant growth in global gaming products sales, reaching a whopping $1.15 billion.

“Our core businesses achieved significant momentum in the third quarter and year-to-date periods. Key performance indicators were solid in the quarter – gaming machine unit shipments increased 44%, while same-store revenue for draw games and instants rose 4%.

Our leading positions are rooted in our focus on player-driven performance, which was on display at recent lottery and gaming trade shows and should sustain our momentum going forward,” said Marco Sala at the time, chief executive of IGT.
