As expected, PokerStars was leading the way, collecting most of the money.

Pay Attention

When it comes to the government’s tax take from gambling operations collected both directly and indirectly in the year through October, the number went over €12 billion…

…which is approximately a 4.6 percent boost in comparison with the same period last year.

Almost all of it comes from the direct taxes (€11.64 billion) but we must mention the lottery proceeds which reached €6.2 billion!

Even though the government’s tax take is high at the moment, it is expected to plunge once the next year starts. The reason for the expected decline is a 35% reduction in video lottery terminals and amusement with prizes (AWP) machines.

While the government is ready to take the hit, they hope to balance it out through hikes in gaming machine tax rates.

Taking A Blow

The entire gaming industry is expected to take a major blow in 2019. Namely, the UK is not the only market in which gambling ads will be strictly regulated

…Italy will also succumb to changes.
