Kentucky Launches Regulated Sports Betting Market with a Bang
April 21, 2019 Tamara Vucinic
Kambi Group Plc, a B2B provider of sports betting services to licensed B2C gaming operators, signed an exclusive deal with National Lottery JSC to launch a new sportsbook service for the Moldovan National Lottery.
This software provider, that has offices in Malta, Bucharest, London, Manila, Sydney, and Stockholm…
…will provide the Moldovan lottery with its online and retail sportsbook services via Bulgarian-based gambling operator.
Although sports betting is at the moment not allowed in Moldova, the country actually ed new laws in 2016 to regulate the gambling activity under a monopoly framework.
So, National Lottery JSC recently managed to sign the contract after a successful tender process…
…and agreed to run both its national lottery product and a brand-new online and retail sportsbook for the Moldovan National Lottery.
According to the deal, this partnership will run for 15 years, but it is interesting that Kambi already provides its sportsbook services to the National Lottery JSC’s 7777.bg brand in Bulgaria.
Both National Lottery JSC and Kambi are planning to launch the online sportsbook within the next few months, and will also launch a retail service to a little bit after that.
“When replacing our previous sports betting supplier with Kambi, we did so with the goal of becoming a market leader in Bulgaria, a position we’ve achieved well ahead of time,” managing partner of National Lottery JSC, Milen Ganev, said.
“This triumph, coupled with Kambi’s scalable technology, gives us the freedom to expand into new markets, beginning with Moldova and the Moldovan National Lottery monopoly later this year. We therefore decided to extend our contract with Kambi, enabling us to enter the next chapter of our exciting growth story with confidence,” he added.
“For the 7777.bg brand to be among the market leaders in Bulgaria within 18 months of partnership is testament to the quality of the Kambi sportsbook, as well as the National Lottery’s marketing expertise,“ Kambi CEO, Kristian Nylén commented.
“I’m delighted we’ve agreed to take the partnership to Moldova, where I’m confident players will enjoy our exciting sports betting experiences in both the online and retail environments,” he concluded.
This new partnership deal between Kambi and National Lottery JSC will replace the old deal the two companies had since July 2017.
Just recently, Kambi Group officials announced that they will be making some thorough changes in the company’s executive management team…
…so they named Cecilia Wachtmeister its new executive vice president for business and group operations.
Wachtmeister has already been working for Kambi for the past two years as a part of the company’s board, but now she will take on her new role in this Malta-based company.
Wachtmeister will receive new responsibilities…
…like taking care of the brand’s commercials, marketing communications as well as strategy and human resources functions.
Her job description also includes frequent traveling to company offices in both London and Stockholm.
