Kentucky Launches Regulated Sports Betting Market with a Bang

After the Supreme Court’s West Virginia are still working on regulations before an official launch can occur.
Simultaneously, the state of Pennsylvania has started approving Kentucky.
At the present time, three sports betting bills have been introduced in the state Legislature, with three more to come. Former Kentucky governor and current senator, Julian Carroll, is the leading drive and main advocate of sports wagering in the state, mostly due to his efforts to create a “feasible sports betting regulatory system.” Carroll has also submitted a bill on the legalization of sportsbooks in June 2018.
Since the next legislative session isn’t going to be very soon, the regulatory system will have to wait at least until next year. Nevertheless, certain progress has been made, and the nine-member working group already established fair grounds for taxation of “regulated sports betting operations and integrity fee for professional sports leagues.”
Should the lawmakers succeed in crafting Kentucky’s sports betting regulatory framework, they will have to solve a burning riddle, and that is where to offer sports betting. There are no Vegas-style casinos in the state, although it is home to nine racetracks. Sports betting products and services could also be offered across retail lottery shops, but since the group’s main goal is to protect Kentucky’s citizens, it remains to be seen whether all proposals will enter the legislation.
