During a pep rally for the venue’s employees, MGM Resorts International (which earlier this month partnered with the Sacramento Kings), has set forth the rebranded Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park acquisition which is expected to be finalized by April.
The future MGM Northfield Park – a facility whose purchase price is $1.6 billion – offers around nearly 200 live harness races yearly as well as 2,300 gaming devices, diverse options for dining, comedy acts and live music.
Hard Rock Cafe will be replaced by a special tap sports bar concept that can be found at MGM Grand Las Vegas or MGM National Harbor.

…from Hard Rock’s Club Velvet to MGM’s own moniker, Neon Room. More casino amenities will be renamed but also revamped and overhauled.
President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM Northfield Park, Chris Kelley, remarked that MGM is proud to work with 950 very dedicated employees and of staff during the transition process.
“MGM Northfield Park is situated in a great location within a vibrant community and offers wonderful amenities, from dining and entertainment venues to gaming, harness racing and retail options.“ he said. “Through the dedication and hard work of this team, the Rocksino and harness track have established themselves as market leaders, and we are excited to begin this new journey together.”
He added that working with the Hard Rock team was also an absolute pleasure and that they are responsible for what he described as a “successful and special destination with a terrific team.”
“They have our commitment that we will uphold the high standards they have set,” Kelley continued.

I actually visited the Hard Rock venue and loved it. Not too happy about the change but guess MGM can’t really make a mess of it. I hope.
