MGM Resorts decided to appoint former Nevada Governor, Brian Sandoval, as the president of global gaming development. Sandoval, who was the Governor of Nevada from 2011 to January this year will be in charge for the expansion strategy…
…focusing mainly on the Japanese market.
Furthermore, the brand wants him to work on state public policy efforts which are related to sports betting. This form of gambling is on the rise in the United States, with more and more states regulating their markets.
“Few leaders are as widely respected, accomplished and knowledgeable as Brian Sandoval, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him as part of the MGM family,” MGM Resorts chairman and chief executive, Jim Murren, said.
“Governor Sandoval brings an unparalleled level of skill, leadership and experience to the company, and we will benefit greatly from his in-depth expertise in gaming, public policy and economic development,” concluded Murren.
Sandoval served as the Governor of Nevada for two and his second term ended on January 7th. Prior to this job, Sandoval was a federal district judge and Attorney General of the state. Furthermore, Sandoval was a member of the Nevada Gaming Commission for a while…
…and he became the youngest chairman of the regulatory body – he was only 35 when he got the position in 1999.
“As I return to the private sector for the first time in over 20 years, finding the right professional opportunity to best suit my experience as a former legislator, gaming regulator, Attorney General, federal judge and Governor was important to me,” Sandoval explained.
“MGM Resorts is a global leader in gaming and entertainment, and I look forward to ing the MGM team led by Jim Murren, someone who I greatly respect,” added Sandoval, further saying that “Jim has formed critical relationships in Japan and in sports, and I look forward to building upon this strong foundation.”
With Sandoval ing the team at MGM Resorts, some people will move around the company. Namely, MGM president, Bill Hornbuckle, will be in charge of global casino marketing. In other words, his job will be…
…to drive revenue growth from the company’s facilities around the world, especially the Macau properties!
Murren believes that Hornbuckle is the right man for the job. He has the experience in implementing marketing strategies in order to increase the consumer traffic. By doing that, the revenue will increase and therefore, the company will be able to create value for the business.
“We are pleased that, with the recent launch of MGM 2020, a business operations and digital transformation program, Bill can enhance his focus on the vital role of leading global casino marketing so we can expand our market share in Las Vegas and abroad,” he said.
Hornbuckle added: “This is an exciting time for MGM Resorts as we continue to expand our gaming operations around the world while simultaneously transforming the company through MGM 2020.
“I look forward to leveraging our global operations and harnessing the power of new digital tools to deliver on our strategic objectives, capture market share and grow revenue.”
