“Following the recent launch of our third satellite casino C2 Ayia Napa and the launch of C2 Paphos, Cyprus Casinos will attract even more visitors from Cyprus and abroad and enhance the entertainment offerings in those cities. At the same time, we believe that when City of Dreams Mediterranean opens in 2021, the Integrated Casino Resort will offer a wide range of attractions and entertainment options beyond gaming, which will enhance Cyprus’ regional and global position as an important entertainment and tourist destination.”

Big Dreams for the City of Dreams Mediterranean

The venue which bears such an intriguing name is expected to host…

… over 100 tables and 1000 slot machines, a pyramid-style hotel tower with 16 levels and 500 rooms. The proposed budget for the property is $617 million.

The construction of the largest integrated casino complex in Europe began in April this year and the completion is expected by 2021. Around 4,000 employees will be needed during the construction phase. Once the venue is open, approximately 2,400 people will have the chance to get a permanent local job.

The organization behind this gigantic project, Melco Group, was recently recognized for its significant investment in the region. The award was given to Melco by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Harris Georgiades at the 8th Invest Cyprus International Awards (ICIIA). The event was hosted by Invest Cyprus.

Fighting Problem Gambling

Enhancing the safety level has become the number one aspect to pay attention to…

…the majority of regulatory bodies, organizations and a variety of institutions have been putting efforts to deal with the burning issue of gambling addiction. Giving their contribution to this, the Cyprus National Betting Authority will use a budget of €1 million to upgrade the protection of consumers.

Having in mind that the most endangered group of consumers are underage…

…the main goal will be to reduce exposure and minimize the impacts which resulted from the huge availability of gaming content, mainly due to the expansion of online casinos. The best approach would be raising awareness and paying more attention to education.

This will be possible only if both consumers and operators, as well as content creators, team up with institutions and contribute unitedly to making the industry a safer place to visit.
