Dedicated Organization

NCLGS is the only organization which gathers state lawmakers who meet regularly to discuss issues relating to gaming. of this group serve as chairpersons or of state legislative committees. …one of the central topics will be sports betting. This will cover the Committee on Responsible Gaming, the Committee on Lotteries, the Committee on State-Federal Relations, and an International Masters of Gaming Law Masterclass.

Indiana Among the Recent Positive Examples

One of the states which recently okayed sports wagering is Indiana, which followed the example of states where legislation process proved to be successful. Senator, Jon Ford, who is also an NCLGS officer, announced as follows:

“Being from Indiana, a state that has just ed sports betting, our focus is on making sure that the state benefits in the best way possible for our constituents. It is our job to get this right. We can learn from where other states have gotten it right and when they might have stumbled. We can get ahead of the curb thanks to those who came before us and gave us the blueprint.”

The Committee on Emerging Forms of Gaming, chaired by Indiana Senator Ford, will hear from the following experts:

  • Steve Geller, NCLGS Legal Advisor and Principal, Geller Law Firm
  • Nicole Metzgar-Schall, Corporate Counsel, Sportradar
  • Dan Spillane, Senior Vice President, League Governance & Policy, National Basketball Association

A Brief Insight into Agenda

The three-day NCLGS Summer Meeting will host a huge number of important events. According to the plans, there will be:

  • Six legislative committee sessions: Casinos, Emerging Forms of Gaming, Indian Gaming, Lotteries, Responsible Gaming, and State-Federal Relations
  • Keynote Luncheon Address: “The Next Five Years of Gaming,” by Timothy Wilmott, CEO, Penn National Gaming, and Chairman, American Gaming Association
  • Two IMGL Masterclass s conducted by the International Masters of Gaming Law focusing on state lottery technology and the multiple crossover regulatory and legal issues
  • Special general session examining gaming’s evolution toward entertainment

Moreover, Thursday sees an evening cocktail reception, whereas Friday evening is reserved for the welcome reception. As for Saturday afternoon, a tour of Sportradar offices is among the planned activities.
