Ocean Resort Casino Sued For $10M by Former Partner

A former partner at Ocean Resort Casino’s HQ2 night club has filed a lawsuit against the Atlantic City casino behemoth with the New York State Supreme Court, demanding a return of 10 million in damages that he helped raise in order to renovate the property.

One Joe Morrisey officially began the legal proceedings against Ocean Resort Casino on December 6th…

…by claiming he did not receive his share of the seven-figure profits HQ2 nightclub generated after helping owner Bruce Deifik raise the necessary amount for the overhaul of the place that is an integral part of the casino that opened in June this year.

Contracts and Harassment

Deifik, a developer and entrepreneur from Colorado, has worked with Morrisey on money raising. The latter claims that he was helping Deifik raise that sum in exchange for a $200,000 yearly salary, 30% of HQ2 profits and 49% of proceeds of eventual sale of the club.

However, Morrisey – now working at NYC’s Scores and Robert’s Steakhouse – never saw the money he signed the contract for and was, in fact, kicked out after he confronted Deifik over sexual allegations made against him by some of the club’s female employees.

As he divulges in court papers, his relationship with Deifik took a turn for the worse after a female employee told him that she “was uncomfortable with [Deifik] routinely asking her and her friends[…]to come see the great view from his presidential suite at the casino.”

Other female of the staff agreed…

…stating that they “felt obligated to drink and socialize with Deifik in order to be hired.”

New Buyer Wanted

It’s after these accusations that Morrisey had a big row with Deifik, after which he was “bullied and humiliated” and, consequently, escorted from the premises and fired. He claims that the casino is now trying to completely remove him out of the picture and is looking for a new buyer.

Bruce Deifik is a leader of the AC OCEAN WALK LLC group who purchased the

tallest building in Atlantic City for $200 million on January 4th this year. The property contains a 1,339-room hotel with six swimming pools and an ocean-facing sun desk.

There are also 16 eateries on premises as well as children’s play/eat spaces, a 32,000-square-feet spa with a full service salon and 70,000-square-feet of retail space.

Ocean Resort Casino has ed the US’ sports betting craze by partnering up with UK betting giant, William Hill, who is operating their sportsbook. Also, to be found on premises are 99 table games, 1945 gaming machines and a players’ lounge.
