Online casinos remain illegal in Ohio. While residents can access online sports betting platforms, full online casino gambling has yet to be legalized.

In September 2024, former Ohio State Senator Niraj Antani introduced Senate Bill 312, a proposal that would have permitted each of the state’s 11 casinos to operate an online gaming platform. However, the bill was designed for consideration during the 2024 legislative session and was not structured to carry over into 2025. With Senator Antani no longer in office, the initiative to legalize online casinos in Ohio has stalled.

At present, no regulatory framework for online casinos exists in Ohio. Nevertheless, residents can participate in social casinos that offer sweepstakes or play-for-fun gaming experiences.
