Parx Casino Launches Sportsbook in Pennsylvania

Parx Casino has officially launched its sportsbook. The Bensalem, Pennsylvania facility, provided a sportsbook to its gambling enthusiasts and it features seven teller windows and 26 self-serve kiosks placed in the casino.

In the meantime, sports betting will be conducted in the lounge area of the casino.

Matthew Cullen, senior vice president of interactive gaming and sports said that the casino is still working on providing sports betting to the customers online and via mobile devices.

Football Most Popular

Despite sports betting in Parx Casino, Pennsylvania has just started, the handle could go through the roof thanks to football. Namely, Cullen believes that it will depend on Philadelphia Eagles and their results in the playoffs.

Just to remind you, the Eagles managed to get a victory in a thriller against the Chicago Bears on Sunday in the Wild Card round.

“The market is insane for [the Eagles], as we’ve seen at the SugarHouse and at Rivers [in Pittsburgh] and in New Jersey,” Cullen said. “But even if they’re out, people are still gonna want to bet [on football]. But it would be great if they were playing.”

First Day Wrapped

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Parx Casino is conducting a soft opening for sports betting. This means that people have a chance to come here and place their bets on any sports team between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Should everything go well, the casino will get a green light from the Pennsylvania Control Board and the Parx will formally be open on Thursday.

“Now the Eagles live to fight another day we know that there’s going to be a ton of people coming in to watch the game it also bet on it,” said Parx Casino Vice President of Sports Betting, Matthew Cullen.

But besides the Eagles who are defending champions this year, the players also bet a lot on basketball and of course, they do so on their home team – the 76ers.

Catching Up

Although Parx Casino is not the first facility in Pennsylvania to launch a sportsbook it is never too late. In fact, it comes just in time, as NFL playoffs are heating up!

The casino will have to catch up with Penn Nation, which is one of the most popular casinos in the state of Pennsylvania and even the US. They have achieved a lot of things in 2018 and they had the first legal sports betting operation going by the end of the year.

Sports Betting in Other States

It is well-known by now that sports betting is spreading around the United States. Since May, several states regulated their markets and much more are expected to in 2019. One of the states which discusses such option is Tennessee.

The lawmakers in this country are working diligently to come up with a piece of legislature that if ed as a bill would make sports wagering legal in this state.
