Pennsylvania Internet Lottery Rakes In $3M During First Month

The state of Pennsylvania has reported that $21.6 million in internet lottery was wagered in the first month of existence. Also, a total of $18.7 million in winnings has been cashed out, meaning that about $3 million in revenue has been collected.

Pennsylvania launched their iLottery services on June 4th, after it was announced in March that it would begin its online gambling operations before summer. This has proven very popular with players in who have been enjoying the 11 games on the lottery repertoire, including Super Games and Monster Wins. More than 45,000 people were paid out various sums of money during this period.

All of PA lottery games are instant win games and come with prizes as big as $250,000. “PA iLottery games are a fun, new way to play and win from home or while on the go. Lottery is a big part of our effort to meet our players where they already are, while generating new funds to benefit older Pennsylvanians,” said Lottery Executive Director, Drew Svitko.

However, 13 different casino operators from the East-Coast state have written a letter of objection to the Pennsylvania Revenue Department, claiming that iLottery violates the law stating that iLottery cannot its games and offerings as “slot style” and “casino style,” which is what PA iLottery allegedly did. The operators have demanded for suspension of these games.

Daily fantasy sports seems to be next in line for Pennsylvania, as the Gaming Control Board launched a regulated DFS market, that will come with a 15% tax on additional income.
