bet365 Receives Fine of £582k From the UKGC for Violating AML, and Social Responsibility

Online sports bookmaker, Pinnacle, was about to make their latest foray into the British market which they abandoned in 2014. Back then, they announced they would return to the UK once they obtain the needed license – and they were in the midst of the process to do so when they suddenly decided to take a 180-degree turn and abandon their UK license application.
A coupe of months ago, Pinnacle officials stated that the UK market is lucrative enough to reenter again, but as their license was pending, the company pulled their application. However, this week, via Twitter, the company issued a statement saying they won’t be getting back to the UK soon.
The tweeted statement reads: “Pinnacle would like to announce that we have withdrawn our license application to the UK Gambling Commission. Although we are eager to serve the UK betting market, the decision has been made that now is not the right time. We appreciate that this will leave some of you disappointed but please rest assured that Pinnacle remains committed to bringing its low margins, high limits and unique winners welcome policy to the UK market when the time is right.”
There are no details on specific reasons why the company felt the time is not right for their UK return, but their license application is no longer “pending” on UKGC’s site. We will bring you more info on this development as we have it.
