Casino games developer and subsidiary of NetEnt, Red Tiger Gaming, has revamped one of the industry’s most recognized slot titles, Gonzo’s Quest, by upgrading it with Megaways, a special mechanic from Big Time Gaming that creates thousands of different ways to win.
NetEnt’s top-performing video slot is also the industry’s first game with cascading symbols instead of conventional reels. Revising this highly interactive release in a totally new fashion by adding an extra layer of anticipation and entertainment should boost the game’s popularity even further. Licensed and enhanced by BTG, the Megaways mechanic is now capable of triggering wins of up to 20,000x.
Gonzo’s Quest was first released in 2011 and it tells a story about a charming Spanish explorer, whose quest for El Dorado takes place in a standard 5×3 configuration, with medium-high volatility and a moderate bet level ratio. The new version is backed with a maximum exposure of 21,000 coins, a layout with 6-7 reels and 117,649 ways to win. It is also powered by 3D graphics, avalanche mode, multipliers and a new RTP ratio of 94.66 percent.
Carl Ejlertsson, director of business development at Red Tiger expressed his delight about the launch and said:
“Gonzo’s Quest has consistently proven itself as one of the best slot games on the market, so we are delighted to give it a further boost with the renowned MegaWays mechanic. The team has worked tirelessly alongside our partners at NetEnt to deliver this summer’s most anticipated slot. We are thrilled to see the collective effort rewarded with a fantastic new release.”
Apart from upgrading its algorithm with the Megaways mechanic, the studio has also applied popular Smart Spins and Daily Jackpots, just like with an earlier megaways project, Piggy Riches.
Red Tiger’s next big visual masterpiece has remained identical to the original, although the graphics have been significantly enhanced. The reels are once again set in a backdrop of a Mayan temple, which is covered with drawings and other architectural ornaments.
To re-create a rather immersive atmosphere in Gonzo’s Quest, the provider has used similar symbols whose collection now consists of a set of 9 regulars, 5 high pays and 4 pieces of lower value.
In regard to features, Gonzo’s Quest Megaways has a lot more to offer than the original, although many components of this video slot have remained unchanged. The latest installment comes with a large variety of bonuses and the first one to mention is certainly the Avalanche feature.
This functionality was firstly introduced in the original Gonzo’s Quest by NetEnt back in 2011 and it is still triggered on every winning spin. By destroying the winning symbols and replacing them with new ones, players create bigger chances of hitting new winning combos, and this algorithm still works well with the Megaways engine.
In addition, Avalanche wins are strongly connected with multipliers, which are triggered whenever a cascade is active. Multipliers grow up to 4 times after which they remain with the 5x value for every following consecutive cascade.
There is a lot more to discover in this groundbreaking “sequel” so take a look at the preview and buen viaje, amigos!

This is one of the most innovative games on the market, and it was a huge hit back in the day. Many online casinos still include it as part of their hottest promotional offers and now that the Megaways version is out, it will definitely launch another 5 years of similar bonuses, LOL
