Through September 21st, 2019 the American Gaming Association will promote responsible gaming as part of the annual Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW for short) which this time takes place in Maryland.
During this period, the Association will prioritize the industry’s daily operations, and reminisce about positive economic and social benefits to communities across the state while promoting employee training along with transparency in gaming literacy.
Since AGA represents the $261 billion US casino industry and s more than 1.8 million jobs in the country, improving policies and regulations for both commercial and tribal casino operators is its top priority, aside from keeping up with modern technologies and immense economic contributions.
According to the American Gaming Association’s latest report on casinos and communities in the Free State, it is clear that the local gaming industry s small businesses, strengthens communities and provides new middle class job opportunities. The research on economic and social aspects on the communities in Maryland confirmed that more than 15,364 jobs are ed by the industry, which generates approximately $713 million per year.
Even the testimonials from local business owners and elected officials a positive impact on the community, and Bill Miller, president and CEO of the American Gaming Association said on this occasion:
“I’m pleased to be in Maryland today to kick off the 22nd annual Responsible Gaming Education Week and highlight the state’s efforts in this essential area.
This week serves as an opportunity to highlight gaming’s unwavering commitment to responsible gaming and, importantly, promote transparency and gaming literacy to customers.”
The agency’s Get to Know Gambling promotional campaign also encourages municipal officials to address responsible gaming programming and resources that are available to Maryland operators, casinos and owners across the territory.
So far, the event’s s were held by U.S. Rep. Anthony Brown (MD-04), Mary Drexler, program director at the Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gaming, Melonie Johnson, president and chief operating officer of MGM National Harbor, Bill Miller, AGA’s president and chief executive officer and others.
Apart from being the fourth largest commercial gaming market in the United States, Maryland has tripled its revenue since 2011 and sparked an unprecedented economic growth in the region.
As reported by the American Gaming Association in February 2019, the Oklahoma casino gaming industry sustains over 75,000 jobs in the state alone and generates more than $9.8 billion a year. Economic opportunities have grown exponentially in the last three decades, mostly thanks to sovereign tribal nations, gaming companies and other industry-associated ‘engines’ who small businesses and jobs for people in the state.
The same goes for Pennsylvania, whose Meadows Racetrack and Casino hosted AGA’s Get to Know Gaming in May 2019. The state s more than 33,000 jobs and generates $6.3 billion per year from gambling, mostly thanks to gaming corporations across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. CEO of the American Gaming Association, Bill Miller commented back in May:
“Today, we’re pleased to highlight the success of gaming in western Pennsylvania, discussing the career opportunities that have been enabled, the small businesses that have been ed and the communities that have been positively impacted.”
Miller also said that the Oil State earned billions of dollars in tax revenue over the past period.
