SG Digital Gets New Leadership

SG Digital Gets New Leadership

Scientific Games is shuffling cards as they appointed a new CEO of SG Digital, who will replace Matt Davey. Although Davey has been at a position for less than a year, the sub-brand of SG will be led by Jordan Levin…

…currently the senior vice president for corporate development and former president of SG interactive. Levin will start working as the SG Digital CEO at the start of 2019.

What led to this?

Scientific Games acquired NYX Gaming Group at the beginning of the year for $579m (CAD$775) and Matt Davey was the CEO at the time. Combining the best of both worlds, SG Digital was formed and Davey was named chief executive.

At the time, Levin was in charge of the purchase and integration of NYX and thanks to a job well done, he became executive vice president and group chief executive of the newly-created subsidiary.

From now on, it will be Levin who is going to oversee all business functions and he will create strategies for the division. SG Digital blossomed ever since PASPA got overturned earlier in the year by the US Supreme court and their goal is to keep spreading across the United States.

More About the Man in Charge

“For SG Digital, Jordan’s digital experience will prove immensely valuable, as he formally takes over our rapidly accelerating digital gaming and sports betting businesses,” Scientific Games president and chief executive Barry Cottle said.

Levin is much appreciated by the company and he is the go-to guy when it comes to the company’s interactive and digital strategies. Jordan Levin ed the company in 2006 and he immediately displayed immense potential.

Ever since sports betting regulations and online gambling legalization has commenced in the United States, SG Digital made sure to prepare for those markets…

…and they sign numerous deals such as the one with Kindred that will use the Open Platform System and Open Gaming System.

More Changes

The changes in the digital leadership are just a domino effect of the moves in the supplier’s lottery division. Namely, Jim Kennedy, who is currently working as the executive vice president and group CEO of SG Lottery will become chairman.

Furthermore, Pat McHugh will be moved from senior vice president of global lottery systems to executive vice president and group chief executive, filling in Jim’s vacant position. The two gentlemen will work together…

…to service existing relationships and expand the company’s lottery within the United States and enter some other new world markets.

Current Affairs

This has been a solid year for Scientific Games despite some setbacks. One of the most striking deals was signed between SG Digital and Lightning Box just a few weeks earlier. With this agreement, SG Digital aims at the US market, starting from New Jersey.

On the other hand, Scientific Games’ initial 315$ million fine got reduced to “only” $151.5 million. This could be considered a good deal for the Nevada-based provider.

By the end of 2018, SG has made the essential moves within its company and its sub-brands. They will be ready for the year with old faces at new positions.
