Every day, Sweden gets closer to opening a re-regulated market and Swedish regulatory body called Lotteriinspektionen has a handful of work. Their job is to issue the licenses to the operators so that they can provide their services to the people in this country. And with a week before the new market opens…
…the regulator issued 28 new licenses!
Among the latest recipients are Gaming Innovations Group (GIG), Paf, Cherry, 888 and Betfair.
Out of the providers named Cherry will receive eight licenses in total for online gambling and betting and a land-based commercial casino. These licenses are going to cover Casinostugan, Cherry Casino Sweden, Hajper, ComeOn, Mobilautomaten, Snabbare as well as two partner brands.
In the meantime, its Cherry Spelgladje AB land-based casino will be able to operate freely on the new market starting January 1, 2019.
“Although, the licence applications have involved a considerable amount of work, we are convinced that the Swedish regulations provide better conditions for gaming operators, our customers as well as for us as a company and therefore also for our shareholders,” Gunnar Lind, president and CEO of Cherry, said.
GiG also got themselves a good deal by securing two licenses. One of these is intended for in house-brands such as Guts, Highroller, Thrills, Rizk Betspin and Kaboo, whereas the other one covers white label consumers.
GiG chief executive, Robin Reed, said: “GiG embraces a safe and trusted igaming environment and has been and will continue investing in technology and people to be at the forefront of responsible gaming.”
Lots of other brands will have an opportunity to compete in Sweden and they are all awarded with licenses for online and betting in this Scandinavian country. These brands are:
888 Sweden, Paf Consulting, Betfair International, AG Communications, Zecure Gaming, Betspawn AB, United Lottery Solutions, Blue Star Planet, Multibrand Gaming, BS Nordic, MT Secure Trade and Cerberus Technology…
…but also Viral Interactive, XC Gaming Sweden, Leisure Spin and Co-Gaming Sweden.
It is worth mentioning that Casino Cosmopol AB got the approval for a state casino. A bunch of the licenses were issued in a period between December 17 and 21 with the regulatory body having announced that they will provide up to 20 licenses.
Lotteriinspektionen’s office will remain open for one part of the final week of 2018 in order to process as many applications as possible and allow the gambling providers to enter the market at the very beginning of the year.
So far, there has been 57 approvals and the regulatory body hasn’t rejected anyone up to this point.
The regulator clearly pointed out that they would not issue temporary licenses. The brands are obliged to fulfill all the conditions if they want to provide gambling services to the people in this country. This has been a stressful period both for applicants and for the regulator…
…as the employees here have worked under pressure to secure everything and get the job done.
