President Zelensky commissioned the legislators to legalize gambling by ing laws by the end of the year, with aims to increase the tax revenue in the country. The parliament released the bill, where it stated that gambling would be allowed in hotels. But, it said that it would legalize online gambling, too. The Land-Based and Interactive Gambling Legislation Bill was ed in January 2020, and as of August 2020, Ukraine is a country with legal land-based and online gambling.

…as the country was preparing for potential online gambling regulation in the market, the authorities announced a crackdown on illegal operators targeting Ukrainian players. The Ukrainian Cyber Police ganged up with the Office of Strategic Investigation in the Kyiv region to bust a number of illegal online casinos claiming to be legitimate IT development businesses. Ahead of regulation of the market, the Ukrainian telecom regulator has asked ISPs to block 32 online gambling websites.
