William Hill Appoints New Financial and Operating Officers

The world’s largest bookmaker, William Hill, is reorganizing team structure by appointing a new financial officer and chief operating officer. London-based sportsbook and gaming operator has announced a replacement for Ruth Prior, who has been with the company since October 2017.

This decision has been made following the firm’s annual general meeting which has confirmed Matt Ashley as the new CFO. Stephen Parry will be ing the group later this year as chief operating officer, the report reads.

Finance Experts to Reinforce Team

While Matt Ashley brings an expansive hands-on experience from London-listed transport provider National Express, where he has served almost ten years in various finance roles, Stephen Parry’s expertise originates directly from a bookmaking holding company, Flutter Entertainment.

Due to his brief appointment as president and chief executive at National Express in the United States, Ashley will also serve as an executive director on the board of William Hill. This move follows last week’s decision of Adrian Marsh not to the company.

Apart from his involvement with Flutter Entertainment since 2017, Stephen Parry has also served as managing director of Paddy Power Betfair and integration director of the recently announced $4.7 billion merger.

Ongoing chief executive officer at William Hill, Ulrik Bengtsson, commented these two key appointments as important reinforcement of focus on building a “high caliber team.” According to Bengtsson, both Matt and Stephen will bring significant strengths to the company in a short period of time.

“Matt has a wealth of international financial and US experience as well as being an experienced CFO of a FTSE 250 Listed company. Stephen comes with a first-class track record of driving digital change, operational focus and customer experience in senior roles at Vodafone and Flutter. I look forward to welcoming them both to William Hill,” added Bengtsson.

Growth in the US

In previous months, the online gaming operator has strengthened its American division by entering into several partnerships with leading sports networks and software producers, including CBS Sports Digital and Scientific Games.

By forming a partnership with the second largest sports property on the American soil, William Hill has reached millions of sports fans and fantasy players. The integration was initiated at the beginning of March across all sports digital platforms, primarily focusing on media, products and services. However, a more thorough rollout is scheduled before the official start of fantasy football season, whose system is now utilized entirely by William Hill.

Back in February, the American provider of gambling products and services from Las Vegas, Scientific Games Corporation, has announced the extension of partnership with William Hill plc. According to the details of this agreement, the companies will cooperate at least until 2024, enabling full implementation of content and technology services in the UK and Europe.

At long last, around February 26th, the leading sportsbook on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean has struck a deal with online gaming platforms at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel as well as Leelanau Sands Casino in Northern Michigan.

This agreement has been confirmed by a federally recognized Indian tribe, allowing William Hill to provide online sports betting services and casino products throughout the Great Lake State after receiving all regulatory approvals.
