Following a historic partnership with MGM Resorts late in October this year, Yahoo Sports announced a full-scale launch of its sportsbook in New Jersey. Betting on sports will be powered by BetMGM, online casino and poker room under the playMGM brand.
As of November 14th, s of legal age within the state territory will be able to view odds in multiple sports, including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, Soccer and other major leagues. Yahoo also intends to expand its sports betting app to other states where wagering on sports is legal, such as Arkansas, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana and other.
BetMGM operates under the Borgata’s license and it utilizes technology solutions by GVC Holdings, a British sports betting and gambling company. Yahoo Sports has signed a landmark agreement with MGM Resorts and Roar Digital in October to bring exclusive live events and various major sporting events closer to its audience.
According to Scott Butera, MGM president of interactive gaming, reaching the arrangement with Yahoo is an optimal choice for the company and adds the following:
“We believe watching and experiencing sports works well with transacting with sports and tying in sports content is a natural fit. We’re committed to that and excited about Yahoo, they feel the same way.”
Considering the fact that 19 states have already legalized wagering on sports, including New Jersey are only allowed to watch all the free games and paid games on the platform.
“The new offering gives sports fans a new way to enjoy the games they love, integrating sports betting opportunities into the Yahoo Sports app and desktop experiences. Yahoo Sportsbook powered by BetMGM elevates the experience for sports fans, getting them closer to the games they’re ionate about and closing the loop from content to transactions,” said a Yahoo Sportsbook spokesman.
The app is re-shaping the future of online sports betting year after year thanks to the 68 percent growth in the United States. It caters digital sports content to over 60 million s every day, including 9 billion minutes on Fantasy Football per year.
By entering into major sportsbook arrangements, not only with operators but national sports leagues as well, MGM Resorts has established itself as an important gaming partner throughout the country.
