NetEnt's Chief Operating Officer Björn Krantz Steps Down From His Role

After more than a decade of serving, Björn Krantz, NetEntertainment’s Chief Operating Officer has decided to step down from his position.

He was with the company since August 2009 and during his spell with the Swedish iGaming giant, he worked on a number of different positions. During a certain time, he was also the managing director of NetEnt’s Maltese operations.

The Man Behind US Expansion

Krantz was appointed to the position of Chief Operating Officer in 2018…

…after being at the helm of NetEnt Americas in which he worked diligently on US market expansion.

During his 10+ years tenure with the company, he was working with three different CEOs: Johan Ohman, Per Eriksson and, most recently, Therese Hillman.

NetEnt has recently completed their first acquisition of another company when they bought Red Tiger Gaming for GBP220 million.

A Thankful CEO

Krantz has thanked his former colleagues for “ten amazing, wonderful and exciting years” with the company. There are no immediate plans for the continuation of his career and no clear path forward. He said that he will spend some time taking a break.

Paying homage to him and his work was Chief Executive Hillman who praised all Krantz has done for NetEnt. She said:

“Over the years, Björn has played a very important role for our market expansion globally and has had several different roles within NetEnt.

I sincerely thank Björn for his contributions over the years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. I’m sure that we will be seeing each other again somewhere in the global world of iGaming.”

Commenting the Historic Acquisition

Therese Hillman has given a thorough statement regarding the said purchase of Red Tiger.

She has expressed her opinion that this buy fits the developer’s growth strategy perfectly and that it will capitalize on scalable technology to future growth.

She commended Red Tiger by saying that they have been successful ever since they began and managed to establish themselves as one of the top suppliers, especially in the UK and Northern Europe, where this strength will become NetEnt’s great asset.

Release of Conan

Almost coinciding with Krantz’s departure was the release of the much anticipated Conan video slot. Officially rolled out on September 24th, the 24-payline slot pays both ways and has four distinctive features: Tower Wilds, Mystery Symbols, Battle Wilds and Thoth-Amon Feature.

Director of Games at NetEnt, Bryan Upton, commented on the release:

“With a globally-loved brand and legendary central character, Conan is a perfect addition to the NetEnt portfolio of licensed titles. We’ve stayed true to everything that has made Conan so popular over the last 50 years and added some true NetEnt touches and terrific twists that make Conan Video Slot an incredibly playable game with a range of fantastic features.”
