International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) recently revealed it has received a significant grant of $200,000 from the Caesars Foundation. This funding is intended to a wide range of innovative research projects and educational programs aimed at reducing gambling-related harm and promoting responsible play on a global scale. The partnership highlights Caesars’ ongoing dedication to social responsibility within the gaming industry.
Of the total grant, $180,000 is specifically earmarked for competitive research grants and educational dissemination. These efforts focus on key areas such as understanding the biological and psychological processes involved in gambling behaviors, identifying co-occurring mental health disorders, and exploring new treatment methods. Additionally, the funds will public health messaging initiatives and the evaluation of gambling-related policies to ensure they are effective and evidence-based. Another $20,000 will be devoted to backing the 26th Annual ICRG Conference on Gambling and Addiction, a crucial event that brings together researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals to discuss advances in the field.
Arthur Paikowsky, President of the ICRG, expressed strong appreciation for the grant, commenting, “This generous commitment from Caesars Foundation underscores their ongoing leadership in corporate responsibility and dedication to advancing the science of responsible gambling. Together, we are helping ensure that policies, treatment options, and prevention strategies are rooted in rigorous and independent scientific evidence.” His remarks emphasize the importance of scientifically backed initiatives in effectively addressing gambling harm.
Caesars Entertainment has a long history of ing the ICRG, having contributed since 1997. Formal donations from the Caesars Foundation commenced in 2022, marking an expansion of this collaboration. In September, the company celebrated 35 years of its pioneering Responsible Gaming program during Responsible Gaming Education Month, recognizing its role as the first commercial casino operator to proactively address problem gambling challenges within the industry.
Kiersten Flint, Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility and Internal Communications at Caesars Entertainment, reiterated the company’s commitment to this cause: “We are proud to the ICRG in their ongoing research and education on problem gambling. Our partnership with the ICRG spans over 25 years, and we are honored to fund their important work. The ICRG’s high-quality research on gambling disorders and responsible gambling helps us and others prevent gambling-related harm.” Flint’s statement reflects Caesars’ dedication to integrating research findings into practical tools and policies to protect players.
The collaboration between Caesars Foundation and the ICRG is intended to directly benefit the estimated 2 million Americans living with gambling addiction, as well as approximately 5 million more individuals who experience various gambling-related harms. The ICRG plans to evaluate the effectiveness of its programs through academic publications, engagement with policymakers, and the promotion of evidence-based practices throughout the gaming industry. These efforts aim to foster a safer gambling environment and inform ongoing policy development.
