Two of the most visited gambling establishments in the state of Mississippi, Pearl River Resort and Bok Homa Casino, have officially launched a new mobile app – PRR Sports.
In fact, the app launched in time for the Superbowl between Rams and Patriots, on Sunday, February 3rd. Director of gaming operations, Neal Atkinson, commented:
“Most exciting thing that is happening, we premiered today around 10:00 is our first in the state and first in Indian country is our mobile sports betting app. It’s something the entire team came together and we’re exceptionally proud of.”
Atkinson is excited about the opportunity that people can now take advantage of betting during live matches. He adds:
“What that allows you to do is instead of waiting for the game to be over to know what the outcome is, whether or not you won your bet, you can make wagers while the game is happening, on the expected outcome.”
According to both properties in Mississippi, the PRR Sports app is already improving wagering and making it easier. One of the guests says:
“The convenience of not having to stand in line, very friendly, gives you everything you need to know about what you’re trying to bet on and it works pretty good.”
Of course, the application is available to persons over 21 and it can only be ed on the property. Atkinson revealed that the service has already opened 500 s, allowing all its s to skip unnecessary queuing and place a bet from wherever they want – be it a room or one of the beautiful restaurants at both properties… it is even possible to wager from bars, around poker tables and beside the pool.
The month of January represents the state’s “most lucrative period” for sports betting since October 2018. At the end of the year, the total stake in this sector ran as high as $6.2 million, only to skyrocket in the last couple of weeks and reach a 14.78 percent leap – higher than in any other US state with legalized sports wagering.
Online betting is still illegal in Mississippi, meaning that players can only place in-person bets at land-based casinos, which now an online app (Bok Homa and Pearl River Resort).
Due to the fact that NFL is the biggest revenue contributor when it comes to placing bets on popular sports leagues within the state’s borders, it is no wonder that both establishments decided to go live with PRR Sports just in time for the Superbowl – Los Angeles Rams versus New England Patriots (3 – 13).
The competition provided $15.3 million in money wagered, while casino turnovers reached $1.9 million in January… with additional $3.8 million from coastal venues!
As far as it concerns other leagues, NBA is the second most popular sport in the state, as players shelled out $7.3 million on games, increasing the proceeds of parlors for about $405,202.
As a result of Mississippi’s fast-developing sports betting market, leading names from the industry have announced a possibility of launching sportsbooks across the state, including Caesars, MGM and Penn National.
