GambleAware Launches New Campaign to Raise Gambling Awareness

GambleAware is launching a new campaign to raise awareness through the National Gambling Treatment Service. The new campaign will focus on raising awareness about gambling harms and will be featured on digital media platforms, radio, pubs, motorway service stations, in GP surgeries and health publications.

Representatives from the company say that it is very important that people know where to get help and for gambling harms. They say that this awareness campaign will encourage of the public to get earlier help to prevent and treat gambling problems.

“It is vital that people know where to get help and for gambling harms, whether they are gamblers or family of gamblers. By raising awareness of the National Gambling Treatment Service, we are encouraging of the public to get earlier help in order to prevent and treat gambling harms. This initiative complements the strategic work to develop a system that ensures individuals across Great Britain have a clear care pathway for treatment. We are committed to working with the NHS, Public Health, local authorities and other statutory and voluntary sector agencies to meet the needs of local communities,” Marc Etches, CEO of GambleAware, said.

Promoting Options to Those in Need

Programs launched by GambleAware build on the experience of those who have had experience with encountering gambling habits, and work on promoting the idea that proper care is widely available. The campaign that is about to launch also has the goal to raise awareness among primary care staff about gambling treatment, allowing both GPs and nurses to guide those who are suffering from gambling to the National Gambling Helpline.

Officials from the Royal College of Practitioners https://www.rcgp.org.uk/ say that gambling affects a person’s health and wellbeing and are aware that GPs want to have a role in helping gamblers find the right treatment for their needs.

“Problem gambling affects individuals’ health and wellbeing and I know that GPs want to have a role in helping gamblers find the right treatment for their needs to help improve the care of gamblers. This campaign to promote the National Gambling Treatment Service and to encourage people to call the National Gambling Helpline is a vital step to ensuring more people can access the help and they need,” Clare Gerada, Chair of the Royal College of Practitioners, said.
