Intralot Appoints New Digital and Operations Officer

One of the biggest global gaming and lottery solutions companies, Intralot, officially announced the appointment of new digital operations officers. This Greek company is making some fundamental changes in its management team.

Nicklas Zajdel ed the Intralot team as the new chief digital officer…

…by coming from GVC Holdings where he worked as omnichannel director of Ladbrokes Coral since the December of 2016.

Besides him, Maria Stergiou, who is already working for Intralot has been promoted and now she will become a new chief operations officer.

More About New CDO

Zajdel has been working for Ladbrokes since 2013 before the company merged with Coral and later on with GVC. He worked also as a managing director of the digital business…

…as well as a director of commercial operations.

Before all that, he worked at Playtech as a vice president of business operations for PTTS division. At the very beginning of his career, he worked for PartyGaming.

Working at Intralot

At Intralot, Zajdel will have the task of renewing and enhancing the company’s products and services via a new digital division…

…as well as being in charge of Intralot’s digital platforms, online operations, sportsbook, and trading.

“The appointment of Mr Zajdel contributes to Intralot’s strategic objective of shaping the future of gaming by strengthening our capabilities with new digital products and services to assist growth across all industry verticals but particularly enhance our abilities to tap the nascent sports betting market in the US,” the brand’s deputy chief executive, Nikos Nikolakopoulos, said about Zajdel’s appointment.

The New COO

After working for five years in the business, Stergiou has been promoted to the position of chief operations officer. Working for the company, Stergiou has had the role of a group director of project management operations. She previously worked at Xerox.

As a new COO, she will have to overlook business operations all over the world, since the company has a presence in 53 countries worldwide. Also, she will oversee the project management office, as well as look after the company’s relationships with business partners and customers.

“I also welcome Mrs. Stergiou, a long-time associate, in her new role, looking forward to leveraging her experience with the company and our industry in driving growth and customer satisfaction,” Nikolakopoulos added.

Not a Good Period

It is not that surprising that Intralot decided to revamp their employee structure since this hasn’t been a very lucrative period for the company. Just recently, this gambling giant missed out on the opportunity to sign a contract with Turkey’s sports betting monopoly, Iddaa, and continue running the company.

After this failure, chief executive, Antonios Kerastaris, immediately resigned from his position…

…so the company’s founder, Sokratis Koalis, had to step in and take over the chief executive role by himself.

Also, just earlier this week, Intralot sold the company’s Totolotek business to German, Gauselman Group. But, this was, as stated by the company’s officials, a part of the strategy of divesting non-core assets and to ramp up investment in key markets like the USA.
