Just last week, we discussed how Ben Affleck was so good at card counting that the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino asked him to stop playing. And while the gaming world was impressed with this news, Affleck’s wife, Jennifer Garner, was not. The former Alias star has reportedly been arguing with Affleck about his “gambling problem.”
As they say, it’s not a problem if you’re winning…that is, unless your wife keeps getting pissed off at you for playing endless hours of blackjack. And according to ShowBizSpy, this is exactly what’s happening:
“Jen demanded to go to Vegas with Ben because she doesn’t trust him,” a source said, “and he felt like he had no choice but to take her.
“But after their dinners there each night, she would go back to their suite while Ben would stay out all night playing cards, betting thousands of dollars at a time. It makes Jen so mad, but once Ben starts gambling, he can’t stop.”
This only describes the mood before the couple left for Vegas. Once they arrived and Affleck starting counting cards, the problems between he and Garner started escalating. Here’s another excerpt from ShowBizSpy’s anonymous source:
“Jen was sitting with him, just watching, and she looked totally bored and annoyed,” said the insider.
“After Ben had been playing for about an hour, the pit boss started making phone calls. Then, shortly after, security confronted Ben. He was told he needed to leave and was escorted out Before he left the table, he grabbed a ton of chips and put them in his satchel. [Jen] followed him out, way behind him. She had her head down and looked embarrassed and ashamed.”
When the couple got back to their room, all hell broke loose.
“Jen screamed at him, telling him he needed to quit gambling for good,” the source claimed. “But he told her that he’s a grown man and will do what he wants.”
We have no idea who this “inside source” is who keeps telling ShowBizSpy all of this juicy gossip. Maybe it’s Molly Bloom since she’s seems ready to share all of Tobey Maguire’s poker tricks in an book. Maguire and Affleck famously played poker together in a Hollywood ring where Bloom hosted the games. And Maguire apparently made around $40 million in profits while using Leonardo DiCaprio to bait rich billionaires like Andy Beal and Alec Goes to the table. The book is due out very soon, so we’ll get a chance to see what exactly Bloom writes about Spiderman.
