NBA and Tabcorp Announce Multi-year Media Partnership

The National Basketball Association is continuing a streak of partnerships with international gambling entertainment groups, bringing the game even closer to fans across the globe.

Australia’s Tabcorp, leading and largest provider of lotteries, keno, wagering and gaming products in the country has announced a multi-year media relationship with North America’s professional basketball league – allowing the company to include NBA TV into a 24-hour television network.

The Tabcorp’s Sky Channel is available in more than 4,400 TAB retail and entertainment parlors across the country, as well as 120 other territories around the world.

Authorized NBA Operator in Australia

Although the Stars Group-owned brand, BetEasy, became the National Basketball League’s official betting partner back in March 2019, Tabcorp will operate as an authorized sports betting partner in Australia and use the league’s marks within its platform.

In addition, the company will also promote best-in-class practices to safeguard the integrity of all matches.

As part of the deal from March, BetEasy is permitted to use NBA assets in marketing materials and promote products directly to NBA fans in the country. Likewise, the operator is also the league’s formal partner of NBA Pick-Em: Weekly 6, a free-to-play game, where fans can win prizes for predicting the outcomes of NBA matches.

As part of Tabcorp’s initiative, Sky Channel will broadcast an extensive line-up of programming such as live NBA matches, highlights and other related data. Australia’s leading diversified gambling entertainment group, Tabcorp Holding Ltd will also produce exclusive NBA content and on-floor experiences within each venue.

“Our goal is to the growing appetite in Australia for the NBA, which currently features the strongest contingent of Australian players we have ever seen. The NBA is popular with our customers, and we are proud to establish this partnership to bring fans of the competition a wide range of action in pubs, clubs and TABs.

This creates an expanded sports offering, gives fans and our venue partners more value, and complements Sky’s unrivalled coverage of Australian and international racing,” commented Adam Rytenskild, managing director of wagering and media.

NBA TV to Reach Millions of Fans

After the integration of NBA’s sports content to TV, Tabcorp’s extensive retail network will be able to bring matches to millions of fans throughout the entire continent, according to Scott Levy, executive vice president and managing director of NBA Asia.

Levy is looking forward to working on integrity monitoring with one of the largest gambling operators in Australia.

At the beginning of October, the North American professional basketball league also confirmed a new partnership with William Hill, America’s top-ranking sportsbook.

Among other sports betting operators who take part in the expansion of NBA outside the United States are Codere (Mexico), Supermatch (Uruguay) as well as the Golden Nugget Atlantic City Hotel, Casino & Marina, since New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy signed a bill in September that allows visitors to place bets on live basketball matches.

The owner of Golden Nugget is Tilman Fertitta, a Texas billionaire who also holds The Houston Rockets.
