Famous gaming operator, 888Casino, has signed an extension of their ongoing agreement with National Football League’s New York Jets franchise.
The deal which is valid for the ongoing season states that MetLife Stadium will feature 888Casino branding in a substantial amount. This will include video board’s highlights. In return, Jets’ will have their branding displayed on 888’s application and site oriented towards the New Jersey market.
Moreover…
…the operator’s promos will be appearing on Jets’ websites and their social media, as well as sports radio stations during the team’s fixtures. On October 21st, Jets are playing against Super Bowl holders New England Patriots and 888Casino will be the official sponsor of that game.
The two entities have been partners since October 2018. That’s when they signed the original agreement that extended to last season. This marked the first ever commercial deal between an NFL outfit and a gambling operator.
This original deal stirred some controversy, as NFL rules do not allow marketing of sports betting at NFL stadiums. Although 888 does offer sports betting on its site domain, the said deal was regarding online poker and online casino games.
This new deal also holds a promise for “additional opportunities for activity,” as was stated in 888’s official press release.
The operator’s head of group commercial development, Yaniv Sherman, said of this milestone moment:
“The extension of the deal between the New York Jets and 888casino for a second year in a row only reaffirms our expansion efforts and reiterates the interest in online gaming within the US sports community. 888casino already has a unique position in Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey for online gaming.”
He added that the extension of the 888/Jets deal means they will continue to bolster the awareness of 888 brand and will help the objective of becoming a leading operator in the significant US online gaming market.
Ian Lasher, NY Jets’ senior vice president of corporate partnerships also said:
“We are proud to continue this partnership with 888casino in the gaming space allowing us to further engage and provide experiences for our fans in the mobile and digital world.”
In mid-September, 888 reported a big drop in profits for the first half of the year. The first six months of 2019 saw the income of $22.2 million, compared to last year’s $60.1 million. This is a total decline of 66%.
Despite these poor results, the company’s board calls this performance “solid” with further expansion into Sweden and Portugal and the recovery of UK business.
CEO of 888, Ital Pazner, added that the group has completed two acquisitions of exciting and strategically important first-class sports betting platform, giving 888 complete ownership of technology and product development across four key gaming verticals.
So far, the second half of the year has produced results much in line with the expectations. Average daily revenue is 6% higher than in 2018’s third quarter.

I think having gambling operators in NFL makes all the sense in the world.
