Scientific Games and Oneida Indian Nation Strike a New York Sports Betting Deal

Oneida Indian Nation and Scientific Games Corporation have provided an update regarding their ongoing deal on the future sports betting market of New York that was first announced earlier this year.

The National Indian Gaming Commission has determined their agreement favorably and to be in line with legislative and regulative updates within the state itself. The agreement between two sides looks to launch sportsbooks at a wider range of properties.

Among the First Nation-Wide Sportsbetting Tribes

Oneida Indian Nation representative and Nation Enterprises CEO, Ray Halbritter, said:

“We are proud that we will be among the first Indian nations nationally to offer sports betting, and we appreciate NIGC’s review and approval of our partnership with Scientific Games. Our partnership with Scientific Games and SG Digital will give our guests an incredible sports betting experience, while providing our properties a strong foundation to grow this market in New York.”

SG will, under the and minutiae of the agreement…

…provide a full-fledged OpenSports technology to three properties belonging to Oneida: Turning Stone Resort, Yellow Brick Road and point Place Casinos. New York’s sports betting market is due to be launched later this year.

A Significant Milestone

Group Chief Executive of SG Digital, Jordan Levin, remarked that the company is making “great strides in preparing for the New York market to go live with sports betting.” He also said that they are honored to work with the Oneida Indian Nation to activate their proven sports betting solution.

“Being part of the first sports betting partnership to receive a favourable NIGC determination is a significant milestone that will set both Scientific Games and Oneida up for ongoing success. We look forward to implementing our OpenSports solution for Oneida as we gear up for expansion into New York.”

A New York Stock Exchange Saga

The Big Apple seems to be all the rage for Scientific as the company announced in early May that their former social games subsidiary, SciPlay, has begun trading on the New York Nasdaq global stock exchange.

Elsewhere, the brand signed a three-year deal with Gaming. The purpose of the agreement is a distribution of Slingo Originals portfolio via Open Gaming System.

Realms’ CEO, Patrick Southon, said of the deal:

“This agreement marks the continuation of the close partnership we have with SG Digital, having previously successfully worked together on the development and distribution of exciting games such as Slingo Rainbow Riches. The opportunity to distribute our games through such a highly regarded global platform, such as SG Digital’s OGS, is a clear endorsement of the potential of the Slingo Originals portfolio in the world’s regulated markets.”
