Sportech Ready To Launch In Connecticut

An online gambling company from the United Kingdom, Sportech PLC, whose range of customers spans across B2B and B2C verticals, has announced its ‘readiness to do business’ with Connecticut, should the state regulate sports betting within its borders until June 5th, 2019.

The entertainment company with headquarters in London has been working proactively to position itself as a number one choice for the territory and provide further consumer protections. Connecticut’s main concern is illegal activity and cash flow or tax income from the operators, to be more specific.

Sportech is also running an advert campaign in venues across the territory to announce the possibility of sports wagering, in case the state lawmakers regulate betting on sporting events during the 2019 legislative session that convened on January 9th.

Spreading The News

As previously mentioned, the sportsbook launched a campaign in early February to ensure that operators are familiar with the process of legalization and regulation of sports wagering. Sportech is also promoting the latest framework via its brands Winners, MyWinners and Bobby V’s Restaurant & Sports Bar.

The bookmaker also issued an official statement:

“States surrounding Connecticut are legalizing and regulating sports betting, now. Sportech’s 400+ Connecticut-based employees have been delivering legal, regulated betting in the State for decades and they are ready to offer consumers a safe, legal, and regulated sports betting experience.

Connecticut must act to keep gaming revenue and jobs in the state and can rely on Sportech to apply its decades of Connecticut betting experience, facilities, and licensing to make it happen.”

Furthermore, the UK-based gambling company even estimates that the state is currently losing some $600 million on illegal sports betting activities per year.

Ted Taylor, president of Sportech Venues in the state commented:

“Because of existing security and technology, we have already invested in these tightly regulated facilities, [Sportech] are a logical place for legal sports betting in Connecticut.”

Taylor also noted that regulated sports betting should bring “current illegal activity into a legal framework” and allow the state to generate a steady tax revenue.

Growth Through Extended Gaming Services

At the beginning of February, the provider of betting technology solutions purchased LOT.TO Systems Limited and improved its positioning in other sectors of the iGaming industry as well. According to the supplier, this strategic move will launch Sportech’s gaming services across the entire gambling vertical, including mobile devices and self-service POS terminals. Executive chairman, Richard McGuire, stated:

“This acquisition will enhance the digital capabilities across all Sportech business lines. In addition, it will accelerate a strategy to further develop those growth opportunities, consolidate our sports betting capability, enhance our existing Lottery product capabilities and the digital development of our global pari-mutuel capabilities in an efficient and effective manner.”

Sportech was founded in 1923 and it is listed on London Stock Exchange under the symbol SPO.L.
