SBTech, provider of sportsbook technology, has come out the winner of a procurement process that will see them deliver a brand new omni-channel technology to Svenska Spel, Sweden’s major gaming operator.
During the tender, the company “outperformed all rival bidders,” chiefly owing to their managed trading solutions (localized in nature) and tools for enforcing responsible gambling. The procurement team was most impressed by these offerings bearing SBTech name.
Yourbet builder and other innovative parts of their tech repertoire…
…were also what made them stand apart from the competition. As Bjorn Kjellsso, Svenska Spel Sports and Casino product manager for sport and racing explains:
“It has been a long process to find the right partner for us which we think we have in SBTech. We are very pleased with our choice and we are convinced that our customers will appreciate our updated sportsbook when we go live.”
SBTech’s chief development officer, Andrew Cochrane, added that everyone at the company was so excited and proud to have won this bidding process.
“We look forward to completing the integration of our sportsbook solution across Svenska Spel’s retail, mobile and online channels and helping Sweden’s leading gaming company deliver the foremost sports betting experience in the market.”
The Svenska Spel deal is SBTech’s third contractual obligation with one of the of World Lottery Association in 2019. The other two brands are Oregon Lottery and Veikkaus.
In mid-September, SBTech struck a deal with Synot regarding content distribution…
…according to which Synot’s entire portfolio will be launched with SBTech’s top-tier operator partners. For the time being, the said offering will include 40 slot titles. As CEO, Ivan Kodaj remarked, this underlines their strategy of expansion through major strategic deals
“We believe that with SBTech’s award-winning technology we will be able to successfully reach a wide audience of new customers and affirm our position.”
Prior to that, in August…
…SBTech launched their omni-channel sportsbook with Pennsylvanian operators, BetAmerica and Presque Isle Downs and Casino. PA has become the fourth US jurisdiction that allowed SBTech’s proprietary sports betting technology.
“We are excited to launch in Pennsylvania with our valued partner Churchill Downs, and look forward to becoming a key player in the emerging Pennsylvania sports betting market,” said Melissa Riahei on the occasion.
Svenska Spel has invested SEK5 million for tackling problem gambling in Sweden…
…specifically, these funds will be sent to three separate projects. The first one to treat gambling addiction among Swedish ice hockey players. The second will be invested in developing new internet-based treatment, while third one will try and establish the connection between trauma and gambling problems in women.
Sustainability manager Scarlett Roa has said that Svenska strives to offer safe games and gaming environments and in order to be able to develop the gaming responsibility, it’s a prerequisite to the research. The Research Council will be established to that end, so as to increase the knowledge and understanding of gambling problems.
