The 2023 World Series of Poker broke the attendance record

The World Series of Poker, the longest-running and one of the most prestigious gaming events in the world, breaks another record this year!

During the Main Event, a new record for the largest attendance was broken. All poker fans eagerly await this large tournament every year, and on July 6th, the World Series of Poker’s Main Event counted the highest number of players with over 10,000 entrants!

The tournament dates its origins to 1970 when only seven renowned poker players participated in a single tournament in the Horseshoe Casino, and soon it experienced huge innovations so the previous record numbered as many as 8,773 players until it was broken this year. The registration is officially closed on Saturday, July 8 at 4:30 pm.

The new World Champion of Poker will also earn a ‘seat for life’ for the next 30 years, in addition to the grand cash prize that exceeds the figure of 10 million dollars, to be precise – $12.1 million.

Over the years, the WSOP has awarded staggering prize money worth over $3.63 billion. In addition to the cash prize, the winner receives the iconic gold bracelet. The player that holds the most bracelets is Phil Hellmuth, who won it as many as 17 times! How about that?

Since 2004, the World Series Of Poker has been sponsored by Caesars Entertainment, and as of 2020, it consists of 101 events, with most major poker variants featured.

The tournament attracts players from all over the globe and poker enthusiasts from various countries participate in the WSOP. Furthermore, in recent years, it has expanded to online events so the players can compete in bracelet events from their own homes!
