MGM Resorts and BetMGM Strengthen Responsible Gaming Initiatives

Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM), will focus on research, treatment accessibility, and educational outreach. The companies are partnering with various organizations to enhance resources for individuals impacted by gambling-related issues.

Increased for Problem Gambling Research

MGM Resorts is contributing $180,000 to the Kindbridge Research Institute to aid in studies focused on sports betting’s effects on different demographic groups. The research will also explore new approaches to responsible gaming.

“As a global gaming and hospitality leader, we are always looking to innovative and actionable research that can make a positive impact,” said Stephen Martino, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at MGM Resorts. “As our company continues to grow both domestically and internationally, these studies will allow us to our industry and enhance the sustainability of communities in which we operate.”

BetMGM is broadening its collaboration with Kindbridge Behavioral Health by extending its referral program nationwide. This ensures that individuals in all jurisdictions where BetMGM operates online can access specialized mental health services tailored to gambling-related concerns.

“Responsible gaming is a focal point of our operations, and we will continue to invest in programs that promote player protection and well-being. Expanding our partnership with Kindbridge ensures that essential services are always within reach for those who need it,” said Rhea Loney, Chief Compliance Officer at BetMGM.

Enhanced Responsible Gaming Messaging with GameSense

Throughout March, MGM Resorts and BetMGM will boost their responsible gaming messaging via the GameSense program, originally developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC). The initiative includes digital and retail sportsbook messaging, reminding bettors to “take a time-out” while providing QR codes for quick access to responsible gaming tips. GameSense Advisors will be available at MGM Rewards desks and BetMGM Sportsbooks nationwide to offer and guidance.

MGM Resorts and BetMGM are also extending their responsible gaming efforts to academic institutions by engaging with students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). These sessions offer insights into the role responsible gaming plays in customer engagement and industry sustainability.

“Our collaboration with MGM Resorts has been a valuable learning experience for Boyd law students, enhancing their understanding of gaming regulations through real-world exposure. Exploring the GameSense program firsthand helps them grasp the importance of responsible gaming, especially as more jurisdictions require such important initiatives,” said Sarah Gonzales, Director of Graduate Programs at the William S. Boyd School of Law, UNLV.
